(Crataegus Monogyna)
The native common Hawthorn, also known as Quickthorn and May Blossom among other names, is a popular quick growing hedging plant.
Stems bear sharp thorns which can act as a good deterrent and the fruit of hawthorn, called haws, are edible and can be made into jellies, jams, and syrups.
Suitable for most soil types, including chalk, will also tolerate wet conditions but is not suitable for really boggy locations. The Hawthorn will make a good stock proof hedge.
We also supply red flowering Hawthorn plants. Supplied as 60cm plants (approx).
