The Hornbeam is a hardy native plant that can be used to make a substantial hedging screen and is also suitable for pleaching.
They will tolerate wet soils and windy locations. The leaves are strongly ribbed and turn vivid yellow in autumn.
The common English name of "hornbeam" derives from the hardness of the wood and they are part of the Birch family. The Hornbeam has been awarded an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Supplied as 60cm (approx) plants. Plant about 50cm apart.
