Mountain Ash
(Sorbus)
The name "rowan" is derived from the Old Norse name for the tree, raun, and has a long tradition in European mythology and folklore. Rowans are actually unrelated to the true Ash trees.
This native deciduous tree bears creamy white flowers that are succeeded by red berries which are loved by many birds, including thrushes.
A fully hardy tree that prefers full sun or partial shade and tolerates most soil types.
Supplied as a 1 metre (approx) pot grown or root-balled plant ready to plant out.
